A Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV), also known as an underwater scooter, lets you cover far more ground on a single dive. Effortlessly glide across the reef, explore more dive sites, and extend your range without burning through your air supply.
Blue Ribbon Dive Resort offers both recreational (SDI) and technical (TDI) DPV courses in the waters of Anilao — one of the most biodiverse marine environments on the planet. Whether you’re a certified Open Water diver looking for a fun new skill or a technical diver wanting to add DPV capability to your deco diving, we have you covered.
The SDI DPV Diver course is your entry into underwater scooter diving. Over 2 open water dives, you’ll learn DPV operation, safety procedures, dive planning, and maintenance — everything you need to confidently use a DPV on recreational dives.
This is a fun, hands-on course perfect for certified Open Water divers looking to add a new dimension to their diving. Learn to maximise battery life, plan turn-around points, and navigate safely with a DPV in Anilao’s stunning waters.
Price: PHP 15,000 / ~$260 USD
The TDI Technical DPV Diver course takes DPV diving to the next level. This course covers advanced DPV operation including gas sharing ascents with DPVs, towing disabled vehicles, and specialised propulsion techniques — the skills you need for integrating DPV use into technical diving profiles.
Conducted over 4 dives — 2 DPV skill dives followed by 2 decompression dives the next day — you’ll learn to handle DPV operations in real-world technical diving scenarios. Maximum depth: 40 metres.
Price: PHP 24,000 / ~$415 USD
Both SDI and TDI DPV courses at Blue Ribbon are taught by Jonathan Venn and Gary Tyson — experienced SDI/TDI instructors and technical divers based here in Anilao.
With years of experience operating DPVs in Anilao’s diverse conditions — from open reef cruising to technical decompression profiles — they’ll ensure you’re confident and competent on your DPV from day one.
