Assumption of Risk & Liability
Scuba diving, freediving, and related water activities are inherently risky. By participating in any diving activity with Blue Ribbon Divers, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Diving involves risks including but not limited to decompression sickness, barotrauma, drowning, and marine life injuries.
- You are medically fit to participate in diving activities. You may be required to complete a medical questionnaire and, where indicated, provide a physician’s clearance before diving.
- You will sign a separate liability release and assumption of risk form before participating in any diving activity. This is a standard requirement across the dive industry and is mandatory — no exceptions.
- Blue Ribbon Divers, its instructors, divemasters, and staff will not be held liable for injuries, losses, or damages arising from your participation in diving activities, except where caused by our gross negligence.
We take your safety seriously. Our instructors are certified to international standards, our equipment is regularly maintained, and we will always cancel or modify activities when conditions are unsafe — regardless of the impact on scheduling.
Certification Requirements
- Fun dives: You must hold a valid diving certification from a recognised agency (SDI, PADI, SSI, NAUI, CMAS, or equivalent) appropriate to the dive being undertaken.
- Technical dives: You must hold the appropriate TDI (or equivalent) certification for the specific type of technical dive.
- Courses: Prerequisites vary by course level. We will confirm any requirements at the time of booking.
- Medical clearance: Certain medical conditions may require physician clearance before diving. If in doubt, please contact us before booking.
Environmental Responsibility
Anilao is home to some of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the Coral Triangle. We operate within designated marine sanctuary areas and expect all guests to:
- Follow all marine sanctuary rules and regulations.
- Maintain proper buoyancy control at all times — no touching, standing on, or collecting coral or marine life.
- Not remove any natural or cultural artefacts from dive sites.
- Use reef-safe sunscreen and minimise single-use plastics.
- Follow the instructions of divemasters and instructors regarding environmental protection.
Guests who demonstrate reckless behaviour toward the marine environment may be asked to end their dive or activity without refund.
