Darren Cox, who, with his partner, was a regular diver at Blue Ribbon for many years, did his Divemaster course with us, and also became a friend of so many of our guests, has partnered up with Jon at Blue Ribbon Anilao.
He is promising to come and make the Pizza oven himself, hopefully soon. Darren is a great and passionate photographer and has been to more dive destinations than anyone we know, yet favours diving around the Verde Island passage due to the complete abundance of life here.
Renovations have been a bit slow this week as we have had some terrible weather due to a Typhoon to the north of the Philippines, that has stranded many people in Puerto Galera over the last week, including Becca and Ryan!
We’ve been working on the inside of the camera room and diveshop, as well as started to tidy up and paint the kitchen, to get ready for the stainless steel counters. Scaffolding has gone up ready to do some minor repairs on the roof, when it stops raining! Bit of a wet building site at the moment, but hopefully we will have the dive shop finished in the next week or so, along with the camera room. Obvious priorities first!

Renovations
Today we start renovations at the new Blue Ribbon Dive Resort in Anilao, after being slightly delayed due to paperwork and a few other minor issues.
Workers are here, plans all done, all systems go. Starting off fixing the old roof of the main building, along with painting and sanding. Fixing the pump to start refurbishing the pool. Exciting days.
Even Heidi has decided to move with us to start, along with a few other regular staff that will be coming over in August when we open.

The end of an era is nigh. After a wonderful 8 years in Puerto Galera, Blue Ribbon Dive Resort is packing up and moving to the mainland.
We will be closed from May 15th 2018 in Puerto Galera
We will have a leaving party for our friends in Puerto Galera on the 26th May, 6pm.
We hope to be open on August 1st in Anilao, depending on how construction goes and if there are any hiccups along the way.
Renovations have started, and we are extremely excited about it.
Our website and email and other contacts are all staying the same. We will be updating you with the renovations as they happen.
We would like to thank all of our guests and friends that have made Blue Ribbon what it is, and really hope to see you in our new upgraded premises.
We say our farewell and thanks to the staff that won’t be joining us, but you are always welcome for a holiday, and a job if you decide you want to live somewhere new.
